Fun in the Tent

Amelia has been obsessed with her little pop-up tent lately! She was in such a silly mood I got out my camera to capture the fun. Enjoy!

Goofy grin :)

This cracks me up!  Amelia loves this book about "Tired Cats". Every time she sees the book she opens her mouth real wide like a yawn like the cat in the picture.  All the other pictures are of cats sleeping but for some reason she loves this picture of the cat yawning.

Love that sweet grin!

Home Owners Again!

We have been leasing to own for awhile and finally all the details fell into place for us to buy the house.  We are officially home owners again!

For some reason I didn't think to get a picture of us in front of the whole house- so the only picture of our house I have handy is from this past January when we had snow.

First Pigtails

I was inspired by a picture of a friends little girl with her first pigtails to attempt putting pigtails in Amelia's hair.  I gave it a try one morning when we were meeting a couple of other Mom's from our small group and their preschooler's at a park.

This is my absolute new favorite picture!  I think the pigtails are just absolutely adorable!

This was Amelia's first time in one of these type swings.  We have a swing on our back porch but it doesn't have near the range of motion as these playground swings.  She LOVED it!  The whole time we were at the park she kept wanting to go back to the swings!

16 Months Old

My 16 Month Old:

What Amelia is up to now:

-Climbing!  She now figured out she can push chairs (her small ones and the dinning room chairs) over to reach things up  high.  She also climbs on anything she can! She loves to climb on the speaker and then into our blue chair.  Once in the chair she will relax for a brief moment and then turn around and slide out only to do the whole thing over again!

while I was washing dishes, she climbed up on table and started playing with the napkins and salt

-Eating:  we discovered that Amelia likes to use a fork instead of her spoon.  We have a little toddler fork and let her use that one day and she loves to use it now.  She can 'stab' or scoop up her food and get it to her mouth without it falling off!  She still uses her hands quite a bit but the fork is a must at every meal now!

-She likes to help brush her hair and brush her teeth.  She likes to help put on her clothes (shirts and shorts or PJ's) and she LOVES her shoes!

-New foods she likes:  rice (from the Japanese steak house- with the white sauce and a creamy rice dish Mommy makes), hamburgers, tomatoes, oatmeal bars, just about anything Daddy is eating (except Caesar salad dressing!)

-Sleeping- the same as before- she goes to be about 8:00 PM and will sleep until between 7:30 and 8:00 AM.  If she goes to bed later she typically will sleep in a little.  We moved nap time up to 1:30 to 3:30 or 4:00ish and that is working out much better all around.

fish food mess

-Pretend- she loves toy phones or playing with our phones, she likes to vacuum with her toy vacuum, if she gets a hold of the broom she will try to sweep,

-Loves her Daddy- in the afternoon she will wait by the glass screen door (which I have to lock now since she figured out how to open it)- when she sees Daddy she will do a little dance that kinds looks like she is stomping her feet (although sometimes when he comes in she will run away; usually though she will hold her hands up for Daddy to pick her up!)

-Allergies:  she had some allergies and unfortunately it got in her chest which made her very congested- the doctor ended up prescribing some antibiotics and that finally got rid of it all

-New Words:  yucky, shoes, chair(sounds like "chee"), cheese (also sounds like "chee")

-She still loves books- her favorites lately have been animal books.  She will sit with a picture book of animals and point to just about every animal on each page- she carefully studies all the pictures before turning the page.

-Loves music- she has one show that comes on after lunch (a Dr. Seuss show) that she loves to dance to the song they sing ;  I don't let her watch any TV shows yet- when we had basic cable this was the only thing on while I was cleaning up after lunch and I like background noise- Amelia heard the song each day and now will watch just during the song and then go back to playing

-Can point to: head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hands, toes, and hair (on herself or on us) and she can stick out her tongue

look at that mischievous grin!

-Teeth- her canines have come through(the pointy teeth) but she is still drooling and putting her hands way back in her mouth.  I cannot wait until all this teething business if finished!

-she has started to carry around her extra silky blanket around some- we keep it downstairs usually and only the past couple of weeks (with all the teething and her not feeling well with allergies) she has carried it around a little.

-loves her friend that I babysit- Baylee is now crawling and will be taking her first steps any day now; Amelia will give her a hug and point to her if I ask "where is your friend?".  Amelia loves to help me put Baylee down for naps and help get her up.  She will make the sign for sleeping and put her finger to her mouth when I say we need to be quite because Baylee is sleeping.  I think this is great practice for her new brother or sister!

It's really hard to get a good picture of BOTH of them looking . . . these were the best!

enough pictures- we want to go play!

Little Reader

Amelia loves to 'read' books.  Just had to share these pictures- the other day she had moved her rocking chair in between the couch and ottoman.  She had a book and was just relaxing with the book propped up on the ottoman.

Trip to St. Louis

Grandma and Grandpa recently moved to just outside St. Louis, MO so Amelia and I packed up and went up to see their new place.  I didn't realize that we were going the weekend there were record highs with the heat index averaging around 105!  It was soo HOT- but we still managed to get out a do a few things in the morning.

Amelia was great on the flights!  I brought plenty of toys and her favorite books- that with a snack and a couple of walks up and down the isle she was so good!

The first full day there we went to Grant's Farm.  I didn't quite know what to expect but it ended up being like a mini- zoo.  There were lots of fun animals including baby goats, elephants, camels, and they are known for their Clydesdale horses.  Amelia really enjoyed getting to pet the baby goats and watching the ducks at the pond.

this one really liked Amelia

Grandma and Grandpa introduced Amelia to her first snow cone.  At first she was hesitant when they just held it up to her mouth, but after spooning a couple of bites into her mouth she was hooked!

Grandma and Grandpa had just moved into their house about a week before we came so a large part of our going was to help them unpack and settle in.  Of course, Amelia loved getting into everything!  Especially in things and places she wasn't supposed too!  At one point we found her IN the garden tub- so we had to keep the bathroom door closed but she still managed to sneak in there a couple of more times.

Some friends of theirs from church (they live just down the road) have a big barn with some animals.  We went over after church to see the horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, and llamas.  Amelia loved petting the donkey.

They let the baby goat out and put some feed down so Amelia could pet it.  Amelia just sat and tried to put the feed back in the bucket.  Then she realized there were big goats behind her trying to eat feed out of a bucket hanging on the fence.  So Amelia took handfuls of feed from the baby goat and stretched to try to put it in the bucket for the big goats.  The family were so tickled that Amelia took so easily to the "farm life".

The last day there Grandpa took us to the zoo.  Amelia really seemed to enjoy seeing all the animals- she loves looking at animals in her books.

Yummy spaghetti!

What fun we had with Grandma and Grandpa!  We plan to take Daddy and go back in a few weeks :)
