My sweet and silly Amelia

This picture came out blurry but was a crazy moment I wanted to remember- Amelia running around in just panties and a shirt with her boots (she had been trying on ALL of her pants one at a time)- she moved a bench over to the crib to climb up so she could see Luke enjoying his mobile

Finally Finished

Luke and Amelia's rooms are finally finished- for the most part that is.  In addition to making the name blocks for Luke's room I also re-did the letters for Amelia's name. I had planned to get Luke's room ready in the last couple of weeks before my due date- thinking he would be on time or late.  So I had several projects lined up to help keep me busy while waiting. Well when he decided to come early his room wasn't officially "ready".  Luckily we have the bassinet in our bedroom for the first few weeks- so I don't feel so bad about his room not being ready.

there are a couple of more embellishments I want to add to the blocks- but they are basically done :)

we received these awesome peel and stick transportation stickers- they are the kind you and stick and remove over and over again- I'm thinking Luke is going to have fun with these when he gets older and figures out he can play with them :)

Amelia's room

planning on adding some framed pictures of Amelia as a newborn on either side of the window :)

We have a cute white toddler bed just waiting in the garage for when Amelia figures out she can climb out of her crib :)

1 month Old- 2/11/12

Over the weekend our little guy turned one month old- I can't believe it's already been one month.  At his check-up he was 9lbs 9oz and 21 inches long.  That is the 50th percentile for weight and in between the 25th and 50th for height.  That means he grew almost 2lbs in 2 weeks (at his weight check at 2 weeks old he was 7lbs 15oz).  The doctor was very impressed with how fast Luke is putting on the weight.  Luke is now going 4 and 5 hour stretches at night- we are still doing 3 hours in between feedings during the day.  Looks like he is going to be a great sleeper like Amelia was!  He is definitely more alert now and his picking up his head to look around all the time.  He loves to snuggle especially when he is sleepy.  Luke seems to prefer being held straight up and down just like Amelia did :)  He is eating much faster now- going from around 30 minutes the first couple of weeks to now around 20 minutes at most.  When he is done eating- he will NOT eat any more- no matter how much I try!  He will scream if I try to make him latch on and he doesn't want to (I think he needs to eat more and he disagrees!).  It's hard to know with breastfeed babies how much they have eaten so now I'm just having to not worry- because it seems like he is just becoming a more efficient eater. He is such a sweet baby and we all just absolutely adore him- especially his big sister Amelia. When he cries- Amelia will run over and unwrap his blanket and try to give Luke his paci.  She will also say "don't cry" or "he's sad".

I debated on these monthly pictures if I wanted to include a "bear" or something- we will start with this cute little blue elephant we received and see how it goes.

Sweet Little Valentines

My sweet little Valentines

my first attempt at heart-shaped pancakes- they came out pretty good (although Amelia just took one bite and wanted the blueberry muffins I had made for Daddy)

Life with a newborn

We are finally settling into our new "normal" life with a newborn.  Amelia has been amazing overall!  She is such a sweet big sister.  We have not really had any jealously issues at all!  I believe that is because I babysat Baylee and she was so used to having another little one around. Here are just some pictures from the past couple of weeks.

Luke at 3weeks old- checking out his mobile for the first time
Amelia "playing" in her room while I work on Luke's room/laundry- she pulled out a bunch of her books and then starting trying on every pair of pants in her drawer

breakfast yogurt- my sweet silly Amelia

tummy time- seems to like it so far

playing on the playmat wears a little guy out

my big girl- moved her car seat to forward-facing: she LOVES it!  Now she can see outside and she is talking about everything she sees!
