7 Months Old (10-23-10)

For those of you that like the month picture with the bear- I gave it another try. Luckily this month with the pumpkin in her lap to distract her I was able to get a great picture quickly!
Amelia turned 7 months old last weekend while we were away camping.  My sweet 7 month old is getting more and more fun!  Each phase/stage we go through just gets more fun!  She now spends a lot of time on her tummy reaching for toys and pulling her knees up under her.  She hasn't quite figured out how to push her arms up when she is on her knees but I don't think it will take her much longer.  She seems like she wants to get moving so bad!

Peek-a-Boo Outfit

Amelia's favorite food is definitely peaches and plums- she just devours them!  We have tried: sweet potatoes, green beans, peaches, bananas, plums, peas, pears and squash.  In addition to breastfeeding, Amelia now eats baby food at each "mealtime".  We have introduced a sippy cup and she has drank water from it but she usually just prefers to play with it at this point.

Amelia is such a happy baby- usually content to play with her toys or with Mommy and Daddy.  She loves to go grocery shopping and ride in her stroller in stores or around the neighborhood.  She smiles and laughs all the time and I could just eat her up! Everyone asks about her bow- she usually doesn't mess with it at all.  When she does I just distract her and put something in her hands to play and chew on.  I'm hoping she will be used to wearing things in her hair so she won't be like I was as a child- my mother told me I wouldn't keep anything in my hair.  We'll see how long Amelia will go!

Eating the pumpkin

After the first picture with the bear, it went downhill pretty quickly after that- she just loves to grab the paper!

She was NOT happy when I took away the paper and put her on her tummy!

Fall Camping- Part 2

These pictures didn't come out as well overall because they were taken with our video camera.  Unfortunately I forgot to bring our camera charger and it died.  Anyways, we enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors at the peak of the fall leaves according to Fall Creek Falls State Park. We saw several deer, a skunk near the bathhouse and some raccoons (read on to hear more).

Amelia's "happy camper" bib- she played in her pack-n-play at our campsite

The first night was VERY cold and we all bundled up (I think it was in the low 40's). Amelia started out sleeping in her pack-n-play but woke up crying and I brought her in bed with us since it was so cold.  Dan and I were freezing most of the night even with a sleeping bag, blanket, and a quilt.  However, Amelia was sweating all snuggled in between Dan and I so I ended up taking off her fleece sleep sack and hat- at least she was warm for the night.

The next day we headed out to see the falls!  Cane Creek cascades were barely a trickle but we had fun walking down to Cane Creek Falls (also barely a trickle).  Dan loves to do this pose whenever we are near the edge of a cliff or drop off.

Daddy and Amelia in an awesome pile of leaves

Amelia loved playing in the leaves- she didn't eat as many this time.

Ready to go hiking- in her personal chariot

On our way to Fall Creek Falls, Amelia fell fast asleep. Hiking is just so tiring for a little baby!

Daddy and Amelia- different view of Fall Creek Falls

On the way back we took a trail to an overlook and this is what we came to- not much of an overlook so Dan decided to take a funny picture.

That night was perfect! We enjoyed a big fire, BBQ chicken, cool breeze and a big moon. At bedtime it was cool enough to snuggle down in the sleeping bag but not too cold.  I awoke to a crash and rustling leaves- a quick peak outside the tent and I discovered 3 raccoons trying to get into our blueberry muffins and chocolate chip cookies. Dan quickly came to the rescue and scared them off and put some things in our car- it was about 2:30 AM.  Amelia woke up and would not sleep in her pack-n-play.  She would be sound asleep in my arms and as soon as I laid her down she would wake up and scream.  After doing this several times I gave in and put her in bed with us again.  So another night of mommy not sleeping well and this time Amelia kept waking up and crying every so often.  Rough night which made for a morning filled with whining.  After her morning nap she was much happier for the ride home.

On the way back home we stopped in at Guthrie Pumpkin Farm and Corn Maze

Amelia picked herself a little pumpkin

She was so curious about the pumpkin that we could not get her to look up at the camera for anything!  She also loved the hayride- not sitting like the other babies though.  She wanted to stand in Mommy's lap and see everything.

Her shirt says "Daddy is under my spell"

She got so silly and was smiling at everything!

Dan wanted to check out an old tractor

Amelia just loved holding onto the steering wheel

Fall Camping Trip- part 1

Dan and I just love to go camping and now that we have all the necessary gear- it's easy to pack up and go away for the weekend.  This past weekend we headed to Fall Creek Falls State Park.  There is a huge campground, lots of trails, and lots of waterfalls (well some were more like trickling water right now).

The fall leaves were at their peak and everywhere we went we enjoyed the beauty.  I think fall is my favorite time of year!  Well of course I had to get some pictures of Amelia in fall leaves.  Unfortunately my camera died after taking just a few pictures so we had to rely on our video camera to take pictures the rest of the weekend.  So this is what I was able to get before the camera died.  Part 2 will be pictures from our video camera once I figure out how to transfer them to my computer. Enjoy!

Amelia loved the crinkly sound of the leaves and was so focused exploring the leaves it was a challenge to get her to look at the camera.

She tried tasting the leaves . . .

Eww, yucky

By the way- her shirt says "daddy adores me"

and she tries another leaf- maybe this one won't taste as bad

A third time she tries tasting the leaves . . . still yucky!

Yeah fall leaves!

Sweet sleeping beauty

Lately this is how Amelia looks when I sneak in to check on her while she is napping . . .

Just waking up- Amelia is slow at waking up.  We usually just give her a few minutes and she is back to her bright eyed happy self.

There's my bright-eyed happy little sweet pea!

I sit her up in her crib while I am picking out her outfit for the day and she has started to pull up onto her knees just a little- of course this new fun crib rail must be explored with her mouth :)

We are definitely going to have to lower her bed down and remove the crib bumper pretty soon!

Family Fun Day

The other weekend we decided to take a Family Fun day and go for an adventure.  Dan planned a surprise destination and we ended up on Lookout Mountain at Craven's House.  This historic house has a special meaning to us.  Back when Dan and I were dating, we went up to Craven's House on a very cold Valentine's night and while looking out over the beautiful view Dan first told me he loved me :)

On the way there Amelia took a great nap

Craven's House ended up being closed but we still enjoyed the beautiful view and the grassy lawn.

To be a Chattanooga/ North Georgia girl- gotta have a picture with a cannon- they are everywhere!

Sweet little hands and Daddy's big hands- I just love this shot

Time to get silly :)

Now even more silly- Daddy trying to eat his feet like Amelia :)

All this silliness wears a baby girl out!
