Luke's ear surgery

After many ear infections and a definite pattern developing the doctor said Luke needed tubes.  We knew it was coming- every time he gets a cold it hangs on and turns into a sinus infection and eventually an ear infection.  We wanted to get the tubes in before the baby was born so they scheduled it for about a couple of weeks before my due date.

surgery scheduled for 12noon but he didn't even go back until around 1pm.  He fell asleep in our arms before they even came to give him the "sleepy juice".  We had to wake him up to get him to take the special "cocktail" as the nurses called it.

That was a really emotional few minutes.  Here I was, 37-38 weeks pregnant and they take by baby boy for surgery.  Yes I know it was only out-patient but this emotional Momma had a hard time.  Luckily the doc came out about 7 or 8 minutes later and said it was a success and they would come get me to take me to Luke in recovery.  I couldn't wait to hold him again!

Update- no ear infections!

Homemade Ice-cream

Since we couldn't really enjoy fireworks on this rainy 4th of July- we made homemade ice-cream.

Luke was a pro at crushing the oreos- he loves to bang things so he was a great helper :)

Almost all the kids from our small group- we finally rescheduled our party for a week after July 4th- we had a couple of hours to play outside and then it poured again!  The guys set up a tent in the road in the pouring rain and set off the fireworks from there.  Everyone crowded on the porch and in the garage to watch.  No sparklers this year :(   You can see Luke on the bottom step on the left (not happy about sitting still for a picture) and Amelia is at the top on the far left.

Happy Birthday America 2013

A very wet 4th of July caused our class party to be postponed but we still enjoyed the day hanging out with family.
