Grandma and her grandkids

I was so blessed to have my Mom come and stay for about a week! Dan's parents were here for a few days right when Luke was born and then Dan took off work for a few days.  My Mom came right after that when Dan had to go back to work- perfect timing. Unfortunately, Grandpa was not able to come but Amelia talked to him on the phone each day and one day told him "I Love You".  She just started saying "I Love You" the day before and said it to Grandpa on the phone without being prompted or anything.  Amelia loved having Grandma here to play with and it helped me get the hang of things and sort of prepare for when it's just me and the kids.

Daddy's hands- Luke 2 weeks old

Getting in the hang of things- week 2

Luke is doing so great!  At his 2 week old weight check he was 7lbs 14oz.  He gained almost a pound since his 5 day old check-up when he weighed 6lbs 15oz.  He is now going 3 and 1/2 hrs between feedings at night and 3 hrs in between during the day.  Just this past week he decided to finally open his eyes more and be awake for a little bit during the day.  He now has 2 or 3 times a day where he is really awake and checking everything out.  He likes to be held straight up and down on your chest (just like Amelia).  He is really trying to get control of his head- he will always move his head around to see who is holding him :)

Going Home

Just like with Amelia, Dan got to pick out Luke's going home outfit.  Of course, it would have something on it about 'daddy'.  Amelia's going home shirt said "I Love Daddy, Daddy Loves Me" and the one Dan picked out for Luke said "Daddy says I'm Cool".

Grammy & Pa Pa meet Luke

Grammy and Pa Pa drove late into the night when they found out Luke was making his surprise debut!  They came to the hospital in the morning to meet Luke before going to pick up Amelia from our friend.

Big Sister Meets Luke

Amelia was so incredibly sweet when she met Luke for the first time!  Some friends from our small group at church had kept her overnight for us.  Grammy and Pa Pa had driven up late in the evening so after slept in they ended up picking up Amelia and bringing her to the hospital right after lunch.  Amelia saw me first and ran over to me wanting to be held.  I had never been away from her that long- or overnight for that matter!  I missed my sweet girl so much!  After hugging me and sort of taking in the room she noticed I was holding Luke in my other arm.  She immediately started saying "baby" over and over again.  We put the boppy pillow around her and she got to hold her baby brother for the first time.  After carefully hugging and kissing him- she pulled off his hat and inspected him all over- head to toes!
