Amelia really enjoys coloring now- especially her kitty and doggie coloring books. She has already colored just about every page in each book! You have to watch her closely because after a few minutes the paper gets boring and she will move and start to color in other fun places . . . like the table or the floor OR the wall! Thank goodness for washable crayons and the magic eraser!

oh yeah- she thinks it's funny :)

Silly fishy girl
Amelia loves our fish tank! I finally got it all set back up and she has become very interested in fish- in her books and watching them in our aquarium. She also finally noticed the fish on one of her dresses- she is starting to really pay attention to what is on her clothes (kitties, bunnies, fish, etc). I tried getting some pictures of her in her adorable little fish dress but she wasn't cooperating very well so this is what you get!
Amelia likes to pull out her silky blanket, her bunny, and her paci from her crib whenever we are up in her room- luckily she is very good about putting them back in her bed without much fuss when I ask her too :)
Trying to get her to stand- she thought it was funny to keep squatting down :)

Daddy's broken foot
Last week while playing and dancing around with Amelia, Dan's jump into a slide across the floor didn't end so well. His left foot swelled up on the side and we spent the evening keeping it elevated and iced down. The next morning it wasn't any better so we went into the doctor and found out it was broken! They put him in a soft cast and gave him crutches. Amelia at times is leery of the crutches. We have had to be very careful to explain that Daddy's foot is hurt and she can't touch it. In the next few days Dan will go to an orthopedic doctor to find out what is next- we are hoping for a walking boot so he doesn't have to deal with the crutches.
Around the House
Here are just some fun pictures of our day to day fun!
Sleepy girl- Right after getting back from St. Louis- we had to switch the car seat back to our other car so it sat in the kitchen for a little bit. After lunch Amelia crawled into it and went to sleep! At the end of our trip we believe she ate something that didn't agree with her and her poor little digestive system had a rough few days- so she was pretty worn out from traveling and her stomach/digestive issues.
Amelia has started to really smile when I bring out the camera
I just love overalls- so glad we have had some cooler days- bring on Fall weather!

17 Months Old
My 17 month old big girl!
Amelia is continuing to grow up too fast! Here is what she is up to now:
- Little Helper: she loves to help throw away any trash; likes to help bake and cook- although her idea of helping is playing with the measuring cups and spoons :)
- Little Climber- she now figured out how to push the dining room chairs around the kitchen to reach things on the counter tops and the island; she will also push her chair or even sturdy toys and climb up on them to play or reach things up high
- Eating: Amelia can eat applesauce and yogurt out of a bowl with a spoon by herself- it's very messy still! She will hand me the spoon when it gets near the bottom so I can scoop up the food and then she takes the spoon back and feeds herself; She LOVES using a fork to eat most things- especially mac-n-cheese! She has started wanting to take bites out of bigger portions- before she would not take a bite from a sandwich or piece of pizza- I always cut it up for her; now she is starting to prefer the larger pieces and holding it up and taking her own bites out of it
- Amelia loves to put on clothes now- she will pull clothes out of her drawers and try to put on her shorts or pajama bottoms. She loves to take OFF her shoes- she still loves shoes but she has a fascination with taking them off
- Coloring: Amelia has really started to like coloring; I bought her 2 very simple coloring books of her favorite animals- doggies and kitty's
- Peek-a-boo- Amelia's word for peek-a-boo is "ishee"- I'm pretty sure she came up with that because Daddy always says "I see You" to her when they play. She absolutely loves to play peek-a-boo!
- Daddy's Little Girl- lately she has been preferring Daddy over Mommy in the evenings. She wants all of his attention and he just can't resist when she holds up her little hands to him :)
Reading Bible story book with Daddy- right after he broke his foot
- Sick- Amelia had her first true sickness; She was running a fever of 102 for several days and the doctor determined it was Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. She only had a few sores in her mouth- luckily none showed up on her hands or feet. After three or four rough days she was back to normal!
- New Words: monkey, dogs are now dodo's (she used to say doggie), yogurt (sounds like "yee"), two, down, whoa & row (sound almost the same)
- In addition to all the other body parts she knows- she can now point to her knees and teeth
I just love the pigtails- they don't stay in very well yet but I think are so adorable! :)

Visit to Grandma & Grandpa
Over Labor Day weekend we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa in St. Louis. For the first couple of days the weather was like 100 degrees but thankfully it dropped down to the mid- 70's for the last two days. My mom and I enjoyed shopping for little boy clothes. There are 3 granddaughters on this side of the family so it was a lot of fun to shop for blue clothes with dinosaurs, trucks, puppy dogs, trains, and such on them! Holding tiny little blue sleepers and outfits makes it seem even more real- in just about 4 months we will have a baby boy!

Grandpa even got in on the sweet snuggles that come with story time
On Labor Day we went to visit the Daniel Boone house- which is not actually his house but his son's. Daniel Boone lived there off and on toward the end of his life. There is also a 'village' set up of other houses from around that same time period that we toured!
Here Amelia is running around enjoying the sunshine on a cool morning
on the move!
Amelia loves taking and playing with Daddy's phone

The Boone house
All that cool fresh air wiped out this little one!
wood-worker on the village tour- we also got to see an old school house, a house that was supposed to be a trading post, and a beautiful chapel
Grandma and her blue-eyed sweetie
Boy we sure wish we lived closer to family! We have so much fun it's hard to leave and we count down the weeks until we can see them again. Now we are looking forward to Thanksgiving- this time we also get to see my older brother and his wife and their two girls and my younger brother! So excited!

Mac-N-Cheese and Coloring
My big girl has figured out how to push the dining room chairs around the kitchen to get to things. Now she loves to help me cook. On this day- we were making Mac-N-Cheese for lunch.
She kept acting like she was pouring the noodles into the water. When the time actually came to do it I held her up over the pot and she wouldn't do it. I guess the boiling water and Mommy saying "be careful, HOT, no touch" over and over again sunk in.
I found this adorable little table for Amelia a couple of weeks ago. She has really started to like coloring- and needed a table just her size!
Of course, standing on the table is a must!
She is really concentrating
Rarely do I see this- Amelia actually sitting at the table and coloring.
This is usually how it goes- she climbs on top and sits on top to color

It's a . . . . BOY
Just a couple of days after Dan's birthday we had "Thee" appointment we had been anxiously waiting for- the big ultrasound where we can find out if our baby is a boy or a girl. This little guy did not disappoint! He was moving all over the place but the lady doing the ultrasound was able to clearly see after just a couple of minutes! Then as she was doing all the other measurements he kept turning over, flipping around, and moving all over the place. He would kick and wave his arms to get the probe away. I think we are going to have a very active little boy!
Here are some of the ultra sound pictures of our precious baby boy! I hope to get Dan to individually scan these so you can see them closer up!

Happy Birthday Daddy
*notice- Amelia is wearing her special Daddy shirt
Unfortunately Amelia ended up being sick right before Dan's birthday and was still recovering on his birthday so we had to postpone our special date night. So the birthday celebration for Dan will have a Part #2! We made of most of things though- celebrating at home with special treats, balloons and a cookie cake taken to Dan at work, and ate out at Provinos- with a very fussy Amelia :(
Saturday morning we slept in (well Dan did) and opened presents- Amelia knew just what to grab- the Nestle Crunch
Amelia playing with her gift to Daddy- a new Wii game
Amelia really liked Dada's balloons!
After some shopping and spending of birthday money and an afternoon nap for Amelia we went out to a local Italian restaurant called Provino's. They will give you a free meal on your birthday! Amelia had a very rough time- Daddy spent part of dinner holding and singing quietly to Amelia- he is such a good Daddy! But boy it will be nice to have birthday celebration #2- a Date Night with my hubby!
What Dan was really looking forward to for his birthday (besides the Date Night)- finding out if our baby is a boy or a girl- just 3 days after his birthday.
