5 Months Old

Okay, so I'm a little behind on the blog.  Luke turned 5 months old about 2 weeks ago and it has been CRAZY around here.  So here's the update on my little charmer!

We didn't have a doctors appointment this month so I'm not sure of his weight and height but I do know that he has officially outgrown his 3-6 month clothes!  He is wearing all 6-9 month clothes now and he is already filling up the pajamas!

Luke is eating every 4 hours if not a little longer at times.  We plan to start him on solids next month- probably sweet potatoes first :)  His morning feeding is typically the shortest lasting only about 10 minutes.  The bedtime feeding however is much longer- usually 25-30minutes total.  Although I think some of that is because he slows down and gets very very sleepy.

Luke likes to sit up but he can't quite do it on his own yet.  I have a feeling in the next couple of weeks he will figure it all out.   He likes to sit up in the big tub with Amelia- it will be fun when they can 'play' together without Mommy or Daddy having to lean over the tub and hold Luke to keep him from falling over into the water.

Luke's favorite things:  the jumperoo- this little guys LOVES the jumperoo.  He will play in it for 30-45 minutes in the morning and in the evening.  He just loves jumping!  He also still loves the playmat- he will bat at the hanging toys or grab them and try to pull them down.

He also likes to have his clothes changed.  It's the funniest thing- he always chuckles when I am taking his shirt/onesie over his arms and head.

Luke is such an easy going and laid back little guy. Occasionally Luke will get upset or mad- but this is the exception rather than the rule.  Most people don't believe he gets upset or cries at all!  So here is proof- this was round one of the picture taking.  He was NOT having it- so I waited until later in the day to get all the other pictures of him in his usual happy mood.

Amelia is really starting to interact more with Luke now.  She loves to bring him toys and talk to him.  When he cries she will say, "Buddy, Buddy it's O-Pay, it's O-pay."

Just look at those big blue eyes

LOVE these big smiles :)

Drive-in Movies

On Father's Day weekend Dan was on call for work so we didn't get a chance to go do anything really fun like we were hoping.  Well we got the crazy idea to check the nearby drive-in theater to see what was playing.  I wanted to make sure whatever movie was playing was something safe for Amelia- since she would probably watch parts of it.  Sure enough- Madagascar 3 was playing.  So we called up some friends, packed up the car and took off on an adventure.

Impossible to get 6 kids to look AND smile- of course my child is the one that won't even stay in her seat

Amelia and Luke did great!  Amelia loved playing with the other kids before the movie.  During the movie she kept moving from her chair to Daddy's lap, to Mommy's lap and even Jennifer's lap.  She only watched a small part of the movie and was very concerned that the lion was hurt.  We all attempted to stay for the second movie- an adult comedy thinking the kids would all crash.  My friend and her family ended up leaving since her crew of 4 kids just were not going to sleep like we hoped.  I had to force Amelia to lay still in my lap and then she finally crashed probably around 11:30pm!  I fed Luke right before the movie started and he went right to sleep.  We brought along the pack-n-play and he slept in there for the rest of the time we were there!

trying out his camping chair

he is so funny with those eyebrows!

Oh here comes the lip- man this kid knows how to work that lip.  My friend Jennifer was right next to him guarding him from all the kids and he looked right up at her with "the lip". She couldn't resist "the lip" either- he was swiftly picked up and cuddled!

What a late night but we sure had fun!  I see more drive-in movies in our future :)

Father's Day

Like Father, like son

Teaching Luke at a young age how to fly like a super hero

 Daddy's little girl :)

These came out so funny- I was trying to get Amelia to take just a couple of more pictures so I told her to whisper in Daddy's ear

Amelia and Luke wanted to treat their super hero Dad to something special so what every Super Hero Dad need?

Super hero snacks of course!

Found this awesome idea here: http://alphamom.com/family-fun/holidays/diy-fathers-day-gift-superhero-craft/

Amelia and Luke new this would be perfect for their super hero daddy.  So we bought some small bags and printed off the labels from the website onto label paper.  After filling the various bags with Daddy's favorite snacks, we attached the fun labels and wallah!

We love you Daddy!  Happy Father's Day!

Handsome little Luke

Here is some pictures of what Luke has been up to lately!

This little boy has his Mommy wrapped!

Luke LOVES the jumperoo!  It got quiet one morning all of a sudden and I turned to find this . . .  my sweet boy had fallen asleep right in the jumperoo

First time in swing on back porch- he wasn't too sure and it had to be cut short because Amelia was getting into something . . . such is the life of the second born

Luke took a very very short ride around our cul-de-sac with Amelia in the bike cart

Mommy LOVES her little snuggle bug!

Swing time and The Lip

I love to swing- and my big sister Amelia always brings me toys- this time some 'little people' birds and and music toy

I'm getting SO big my feet at starting to stick out past the swing

Uh oh . . . I'm starting to be unhappy- here comes the lip!

Maybe if I stick it out even further, Mommy will get me out of this thing. I'm tired of swinging!

What?! It's not working! Mommy can't resist the lip! Better turn on the waterworks.

I've had it! Put down that camera and pick me up NOW!

See the animals

Amelia talked nonstop about "see the animals" when I explained that we were going to the zoo with some friends from church a couple of weeks ago.  It was a Preschool Fun Day- families from our church met up at the zoo for a fun morning and picnic lunch.  She is STILL talking about it!  Now when I ask her to guess where we are going- that is usually the first place she says . . . see the animals!  We are definitely going to have to go back soon. The zoo here is pretty small- we walked through the whole thing in under 2 hours . . . but it does have some fun animals and Amelia LOVED it!

checking out the turtles

oooh jaguar

Out of all the monkeys- Amelia seemed to like these really active ones the best

"smile"

At the petting zoo area, Amelia walks past all the goats and miniature horses for this . . .

finally convinced her to pet one of the 'baby' goats

Amelia and her friend from church

I wasn't sure her braids would make it all day-they are still holding on

Carousel: she was a bit afraid at first- even though she wanted to to do it- I carried her on and she started to cry but I got her calmed down by having her look at the other kids from church.  This was her face when it started . . .

Right after this picture the carousel stopped and Amelia had a fit!  She did NOT want to get off- she kept saying "More please!"  "More please!" then proceeded to kick and scream and cry as I carried her off.

Amelia told me (yes, she told me) to take her picture with Luke.  She said, "I take picture with Luke".  Such a sweet big sister.

Couldn't get a smile out of her for this picture but we had a blast at the zoo!
