We took a very quick trip to Florida the weekend after Amelia's birthday for a funeral for a very dear friend of Dan's family. Chuck was an older man that had become sort of like a Grandpa to Dan and his brother and a very close friend to Dan's parents. It was good to see Grammy and Papa and the people at their church again but we wish it wasn't because of a funeral.
This was Luke's first big road trip- he did great! It took us a lot longer to get down to Florida and back since we had to stop to feed Luke but he was a great little traveler. We typically leave around 4am so we can get a few hours in while the kids are sleeping. Amelia did great too- this was her first long trip with her car sear forward facing- I think it really made a difference. She could see out her window and reach her bag of toys right next to her seat- between her books, new Leap Frog computer, baby doll, and snacks she kept busy!

Amelia's Birthday
On Amelia's actual birthday day we celebrated our sweet birthday girl turning 2 years old with Grandma and Grandpa. We planned a party with several other families for the weekend after Amelia's birthday. My parents came down to celebrate (and for Grandpa to meet Luke since he was unable to come right after Luke was born).

2 Years Old
I can hardly believe my baby girl is 2 years old! I'm so used to calling her 'big' girl now around the house- she is just amazing! Some words to describe my silly Amelia would be: smart, mischievous, and adventurous!
Check-up: at her 2yr check-up Amelia weighed 25lbs and was 34 inches tall. She had a major growth spurt- going from the 25th percentile to the 50th for her height. Her weight jumped from around the 5th percentile to the 25th percentile. She is wearing 24month and 2T clothes and size 6 shoes. We just moved into size 6 shoes around the beginning of March and now they are already getting to small! Luckily we planned ahead and also got size 7 when we went shopping at the consignment sale a few weeks ago.

Vocabulary: Amelia is talking up a storm! We have to be very careful what we say now because she will repeat anything she hears! When she is trying to tell us something- if you don't acknowledge what she is saying she will just keep repeating the word over and over again until you acknowledge it. We are working on saying 'please'- she says "thank you" all the time! She finally is saying 'mommy' on a regular basis. She regularly says three word phrases (like "go outside play", "yes you are", "I go pee pee or I go outside or I go _____") and sometimes even longer like: I want to hold Luke today.
She loves to sing- usually when she is singing by herself in her bed or in the car or when she is playing she will mix up verses of the song. For example- we hear "Jesus loves me, how I wonder what you are" all the time! She sings "Jesus Loves Me" all the time- although usually she sings it "Jesus loves you". She also loves to sing Wheels on the Bus and Old MacDonald Had a Farm. She can now sing the ABC's- usually we supply a letter here and there. She can count up to 10 sort of- usually she gets the 1-5 part and then the 8-10. She knows what 2 means- and will acknowledge when there are two of anything.
She is already showing a sweet love for Jesus. She will often say "Jesus loves you" and make the motion for love. Whenever we pray for our food- she will bow her head and usually during the prayer she will say "Jesus loves you". She loves going to church! We have also been teaching her about how God made everything. When you ask her who made lions or dogs or whatever she will say God (most of the time that is).
What she's into: Baby Dolls! She LOVES baby dolls! She is always carrying one around and playing with baby accessories. She got a baby doll bathtub, baby bed and baby car seat for her birthday. Amelia usually likes to wrap the baby up and carry it around, put the baby doll in a stroller or in the baby bed. She also likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! I allowed Amelia to watch Mickey Mouse right after Luke was born when I was breastfeeding him. Now she loves it and I have to limit her to only watching 1 show a day!
She still LOVES books- she will tell me all the time "I read books"- which can mean she wants us to read her a book or she wants to read herself. At night she will pick out what 3 books she wants Daddy to read to her. She knows the names of just about all of her 'night time' books that we have in her bedroom (probably anywhere from 20-30 books).
She LOVES playing outside- with her baby doll in tow of course! She could play for hours outside- in her playhouse, sandbox, water table, playset or just pushing her stroller around the yard. She loves playing with our litter of puppies- she will pick them up by their heads. We are working on picking them up by the belly- usually she will run and they will chase her :)
She LOVES music! We have gotten her several more of the Cedarmont Kids DVD's- the first she had was Toddler Tunes which is an absolute favorite but now we have Sunday School songs. She loves watching them- she usually asks to watch her "moo-vie" at least once a day! She also loves to play a CD of simple kids songs in her bedroom when we are upstairs playing.

Eating: She still LOVES mac-n-cheese and anything with pasta. I am working on getting her used to eating sandwiches- she still doesn't really care for them. Her other favorites at this time: pizza, strawberries, grapes, peaches, chicken nuggets, and fruit snacks (we call them gummies). She gets a half cup of diluted juice in the morning (we put a kids pro-biotic in it- recommended by her Doc.) and milk the rest of the day.
Potty Training: Amelia is pretty much completely potty trained! We are still putting her in a pull-up during naps and overnight as well as when we go out in public. She will now ask to go potty as soon as we go into any store, restaurant or building! She doesn't always stay dry when we are out and about but she will go potty in public and will tell us when she has an "accident" in her pull-up. At home she wears her big girl Minnie Mouse panties. She uses the big potty (with a child's potty seat) all by herself- meaning she can go, wipe, pull everything back up and flush all on her own.
Sleeping: Amelia is still sleeping in her crib- she hasn't quite figured out that she can get out of it yet (and don't anyone tell her!). She figured out how to get out of a pack-n-play though. We have had her sleep on her fold out Mickey Mouse couch when family was here for her birthday and on our trip to Florida- she is getting the hang of staying in her bed. I'm hoping when we do transition her to her toddler bed it will be a smoother transition since she has had experience now sleeping in a bed where she can get up and get into things :) Amelia goes to bed around 8pm and sleeps until 7:30 or 8:00am.
