Recently Dan and I decided that we need to take intentional "family fun" days. We had a rough fall with Dan's broken foot and then a newborn in the house so we are definitely ready to get out and have some FUN! A couple of weeks ago we were having some record high weather so we took a picnic over to a local park where they also have an awesome water fountain area for kids to play. Luke wore his little swim suit for the first time- so adorable!
The whole time we were having our picnic- Amelia kept saying "I play in water" or "ready to go play in water"- when we get there check out the death grip she has on Daddy
Luke wasn't too thrilled with the cold water either
Amelia would much rather climb on the big statues around the water fountain
now they're wet :)
finally started running and playing in the water herself
Luke just chillin'
decided to let Luke try it out one more time- he still wasn't a fan; he is SO expressive with his eyebrows!
much better- all warm and cozy in his towel
Amelia LOVES this Minnie Mouse swimsuit cover- I found it at our local consignment sale and it was higher priced than I like to spend- but it was brand new and I knew she would LOVE it- and it matches her adorable swimsuit I had found earlier
she calls it her "Minnie Mouse hat"
Yeah for more Family Fun Days!

Field of flowers
Last year we started a fun new Thomas tradition- going to the nearby battlefield and finding a field of flowers to get some spring pictures. This year was a bit more tricky with a 3 month old and an active 2yr old but we got some adorable pictures. Enjoy!

Puppies and One Crazy Mommy
The kids and I headed back to Florida mid-April to deliver all of our puppies to their new families. Our sweet Jasmine had 5 puppies on Leap Day- and we advertised them on our breeders site and also on my father-in-law's site. Most of the puppies sold through my father-in-law's site so we needed to take them down to give them to their new families. This is one crazy Mommy- traveling with 2 small kids and a litter of 5 puppies by myself! Yep- but we made it and ALL the puppies ended up selling that weekend.
Here are all our adorable puppies!
Here are a few pics of our crazy quick trip to Grammy and Papa's house.
Luke rocking a Hawaiian shirt- just like his Papa

Coloring eggs- a little late
It was pretty crazy around the Thomas house between Amelia's birthday and Easter so we didn't get a chance to dye our Easter eggs. So we got to it about a week late- oh well. Amelia didn't know the difference at this age :) She had fun coloring the eggs and Luke even got in on the action.
Amelia loved using the whisk to dye her egg- in her exuberance she would bang the poor egg up and down in the cup
Luke took this egg dyeing very seriously
checking out his orange egg

Big Girl Bed
Shortly after our trip to Florida, we caught Amelia trying successfully to climb out of her crib. It was time. Time for the toddler bed. I knew it would come- I only hoped it was after Luke was sleeping through the night . . . and lucky for me it was.
Here is my sweet girl for her first nap in her Big Girl Bed!
Look at the excitement on her face
sweet sleeping girl- even though we call her a "big girl" now- she will always be my baby girl
How did she do? The first few days she did great! She stayed in her bed and would read the 2 books we let her have and then go to sleep. After those first few days Amelia realized she could get up and move around her room- we had to put a gate up on her door and stay nearby to catch up and keep putting her back in her bed. This was only at naptime. At bedtime- she stays in her bed and will sing or talk but then go to sleep. After a couple of weeks of getting out of bed and having me put her back in bed over and over again, I think she finally has it all down now. She will even tell me as I tuck her in for her nap "stay in bed, mommy, I stay in bed."
