My sweet 12 month old:
-Amelia is a petite little thing weighing in at 17lbs 14 oz. (which is about the 7 percentile- up from her 9month where she was only at the 5th percentile) and is 28 inches tall (just under the 25th percentile). She fits very comfortably in size 12 month clothing- although we have dug into the 18 month "big girl" pajamas. She has very small feet- only wearing a size 3!
-She is now completely weaned! We started taking away one breastfeeding a week after she started weaning herself while we were in Florida earlier this month. She has done really well transitioning over to whole milk- although she wasn't taking very much each day- only about 3 or 4 oz at most! The doctor was not concerned since she is a big eater and loves yogurt and cheese. We tried warming up her milk for the bedtime feeding and discovered that she loves it! So now we are warming it up in the day and she is drinking much more!
This girl can eat!
-For breakfast: yogurt, oatmeal with some kind of baby food fruit mixed in (she also loves waffles and bagels)
-Lunch: two stage 2 baby foods (one fruit and one veggie) and then lots of finger foods! We always have mac and cheese and recently introduced ham and cheese sandwiches and grilled cheese.
-Snack: finger foods; peaches, pears, bananas, crackers, mandarin oranges, cheese, mac & cheese, vanilla wafers, pasta, strawberries, Chick-fil-a chicken nuggets (broken into small pieces of course), sweet potato fries,
-Dinner: One jar of a "meal" (usually a meat with veggies) and a fruit; and then lots of finger foods- usually its bits and pieces of whatever we are eating; we are hoping to transition her to just eating our food so we don't have to buy the baby food much longer
On her actual birthday I made my favorite meal growing up- Chicken and homemade noodles; Amelia LOVED the noodles
Sleeping:
-She is still sleeping through the night. We have moved her bedtime back to between 8:00 and 8:30 and she usually wakes up around 7:30 am. She usually takes a 1.5 to 2 hour nap in the morning and a good 2 hour nap in the afternoon.
Words she has said:
Dada, Momma (only about 3 times unfortunately), puppy, dog (sounds like dada), duckey, Papa, Grandpa (sounded like an-pa), balloon (ba-oo or now they are ba-ba's), ball is also "ba ba", more, kitty (we use the word cat but somewhere she picked up kitty and uses it consistently when she sees Lily our cat), thank you, diaper,
Other achievements:
- Amelia is now walking everywhere! She hardly ever crawls and she is getting faster and more confident in walking.
-She points and says something that sounds like "what's that?". She wants to know what everything is! At meal times she makes it very clear what food she wants by waving her hands up and down in front of her (we think it's her version of the "all done" hand sign ) and will point at exactly what she wants to eat
-She knows the phrases: "give me a kiss and blow a kiss", lay down and nite nite, where is your ____ (paci or duckey or whatever)
-Imitating actions- she likes to brush her hair and our hair after her bath, she holds her new cell phone up to her ear
-She is very ticklish and mischievous at times! She likes to try to go where she is not supposed to- then she will look at me with his infectious grin and want me to chase her
-She will raise her hands up when she wants to be held- just about every time you pick her up any time of the day she will snuggle in and pat your arm or back (I always pat her back or rub her back when I'm snuggling with her so it's really sweet that she is now doing that back to us)
-She waves hello and good-bye (most of the time)
Favorite things:
-Her favorite animal by far is the dog- she lights up every time she sees our dogs and has been demanding to go outside to see them and to play
-When Daddy plays patty cake with her
-She loves music! Grammy and Papa gave her a piano for her birthday which she loves to bang on, she has figured out how to get music on her LeapFrog Violet, she figured out how to get the music to play on her cell phone from Grandma and Grandpa, basically anything that plays music she knows exactly how to get it to play
-She loves books! Grammy made her some pictures books- it's a plastic book with little pockets in it that you can put in pictures of family. So Grammy filled it with pictures of all of Amelia's family- she carries that book around and loves to see pictures of her Mommy, Daddy, Grammy, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Great Grandparents, cousins, Aunts, Uncles and even our dogs Marcie and Rocket. She also is starting to show a preference for certain books- in particular "I Am a Bunny" (Dan's favorite as a toddler), Little Mouse and Mommy, a color book, and really any of the touch and feel books.
Papa reading one of Amelia's favorite books- Little Mouse and Mommy
-Amelia loves water- she can be having a bad day and bath time comes and she is the happiest girl; she is so funny to watch and she will crack herself up! She likes to put her face in the water- that sweet bubble face makes me smile :)
