Luke is still wearing 12 month size clothes. Although his pajamas are getting a little snug so we will probably be moving up to the 18 month ones in a few days. He is still wearing a size 3 diaper during the day and a size 4 at night. His size 12 month pants area all long on him so we usually have to roll up the bottom since he is pulling up and cruising around furniture now.
Luke has started to cruise around furniture and only wants to be standing or walking. We will crawl over to us and pull up on our pants. Then he will carefully grab our hands and start to walk. When we try to pick him up he will lean and try to get down. But if you put him on the floor he will cry- crawl back over to you and start pulling up and grabbing your hands. He would rather "walk" holding our fingers than using his walking car toy. He has taken a few steps every now and then just holding one of our hands.
My poor sweet Luke has been sick off and on for the past few months. Usually just a recurring cold- that ends up turning into a sinus infection and this past time (a couple of weeks before Christmas) a double ear infection. So far he has been on antibiotics 3 times. The first time back in October- to prevent ear infection that was on the way. The second time- right before Thanksgiving he got a cold that turned into a sinus infection. Then as soon as that cleared up he got another cold and got double ear infections.
Luke also loves to practice standing- he will grab my hands and then let go and stand by himself for several seconds. Then he will start to wobble a little and grab hold again with a little laugh. It's almost a little game- he likes to see how long he can stand before grabbing hold of Mommy or Daddy.
Talking- I denied it for a few days but Luke is definitely saying "no". Usually it's "oh no". But just the other day Amelia was telling him no and he said "no" right back to her! So far he has said: mommy, daddy, eat, and oh no. He babbles all the time and loves making all kinds of crazy little boy noises!
Sleeping- still sleeping great! He doesn't always get the morning nap anymore but that hasn't really effected him as long as he still gets that good afternoon nap. He is definitely ready for bed around 7:30. After he is weaned we plan to start putting him to bed a bit earlier.
Eating: Luke is still struggling to pick up food and put it in his mouth. He has started putting toys in his mouth and we have really been intentionally working with him to pick up his food and put it in his mouth. He definitely prefers regular table food- non of this toddler puffs or baby crackers. He likes noodles, vanilla wafers, pieces of fruit, turkey and chicken, pasta and rice, mac n cheese, veggies (carrots, broccoli, peas, green beans, lima beans, etc) and almost whatever we are eating he will eat. Of course-this is all if we feed it to him. We have to physically make him pick up pieces of food and then guide his hand to put the food in his mouth. He will not hold food at his mouth either- like the vanilla wafers. When we help him get it up to his mouth he will just drop his hand- he won't hold the vanilla wafer up at his mouth to chew on it. We are really working to help him practice more in this area and I'm definitely going to talk to our pediatrician at his 1year check-up.
Favorite toys: Leap Frog activity table (seen below), singing mirror, car steering wheel, and a spinning toy on his jumperoo. He will pull-up on his jumperoo and play with this one toy that spins for quite a while! He also now likes to find a little people person or animal and carry it around with him while he plays. He likes to swing- but is not really crazy about going down the slide.
Teething- Luke is just now getting a tooth on each side of his middle upper teeth. So he will have 4 on top and 2 on bottom. He has also been grinding his teeth- such an annoying sound. We have been trying to get him to chew on toys rather than grinding his teeth.
